This web site lists the major buildings in Fort Worth within each area of the city. Their names, addresses, the year they were built, and their historical designations will be listed. To see full information and photographs, please follow the links on each building. Photographs on the individual buildings can be enlarged by clicking them.
In the 2000 Census, Fort Worth had a population of 534,694. The 2010 Census showed that the city had grown by 206,512 people, giving us 741,206 people. Over the last 10 years, Fort Worth was one of the fastest growing large U.S. cities. With these numbers, Fort Worth is ranked as the 16th Largest City in the United States.
Fort Worth has preserved many of its downtown buildings constructed between 1880 and 1930. Class "A" Downtown office occupancy rates are about 98%. The best way to view these buildings throughout the city is by car; however, the best way to see downtown is on foot. Most of the structures in downtown are in close proximity to each other; however, some are on the fringes of downtown and can be seen by automobile. Downtown Fort Worth can be accessed by the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) and is navigable by bus if you arrive via the TRE. Even though there is a parking shortage, many lots and garages in the north end of downtown offer free parking in the evenings and on weekends and all metered street parking is free during the same time period.
